I've been installing PVC windows in Girona and the Costa Brava for 25 years. Thousands of installations, dozens of Passivhaus-certified projects and a VEKA Installer of the Year award. In all that time I've seen brands come and go promising to revolutionise the market, and brands that have held the bar decade after decade.
This article is a technical analysis of the 6 brands I recommend today, with real insulation data, verifiable certifications and honesty about each one's limitations. If you already know the basics, the comparison table is right below. If you prefer to understand the selection criteria first, jump to the criteria section.

What the Spanish Consumer Organisation (OCU) says about PVC windows
The Spanish Consumer Organisation (OCU — Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios) published a technical report on window joinery in March 2023 that remains the most authoritative reference in Spain. It's worth clarifying what it says and what it does not say.
What the OCU does state about PVC windows:
- PVC insulates better than timber and far better than aluminium without a thermal break.
- The chambered structure of the PVC profile seals joints effectively, improving thermal and acoustic insulation.
- It is a durable material: with basic maintenance, the service life of a quality PVC window exceeds 40 years.
- It recommends requiring AENOR certification and a minimum 10-year manufacturer warranty.
What the OCU does not do is recommend specific brands. And for good reason: the final quality of a window depends not only on the profile manufacturer, but also on the fabricator who assembles it and the installer who fits it. Three different companies in most cases. I explain this in detail later in the article.
So any "top brands according to the OCU" list you see out there is pure marketing. What the OCU actually recommends are criteria: AENOR certification, minimum warranty, Class A profile and verified installation. The ranking that follows is built exactly on those criteria.
How to choose: 4 things you need to know before the ranking
Before comparing brands it's worth understanding what you're actually comparing. These 4 concepts are the minimum framework to assess any manufacturer on your own terms, not based on the sales brochure.
3.1 Anatomy of a premium PVC window
A PVC window isn't a single element — it's a set of components that have to work well individually and in combination. The key elements:
- PVC profile: the frame and the sash. This is what defines the brand (VEKA, Kömmerling, etc.). Wall thickness, number of chambers and depth set the baseline insulation.
- Galvanised steel reinforcement: inserted inside the PVC profile to provide structural rigidity. In premium systems it can be replaced by fibreglass (as in Rehau's GENEO).
- EPDM gaskets: hermetically seal between frame and sash. Either 2 or 3 seal lines. Three is better.
- Glazing: accounts for 70-80% of the surface. Covered in detail in our dedicated glazing article, but as a minimum in 2026 you should specify double Low-E glazing with argon fill.
- Perimeter hardware: the mechanism that allows the window to open, close, tilt and lock. The hardware brand (Roto, Siegenia or Winkhaus) is as important as the profile brand.
If you only look at the profile brand you're seeing 30-40% of what defines the real quality of your window. To go deeper into terminology, see the technical glossary of windows.
3.2 Class A vs Class B: the difference almost nobody explains
⚠️ Important
PVC profiles are classified by the thickness of their outer walls (standard UNE-EN 12608):
- Class A: outer walls ≥ 3.0 mm. The only class you should accept in residential projects in Spain.
- Class B: outer walls ≥ 2.5 mm. Just 0.5 mm less, but it means 15% less rigidity and worse behaviour under thermal expansion (on south-facing façades in summer heat, Class B profile can deform).
Serious brands only manufacture Class A. If a quote offers Class B without justification, there are three options: sales rep error, an attempt to cut costs at the expense of quality, or a parallel import with profiles outside the official Spanish channel.
3.3 The fabricator matters as much as the profile brand
This is probably the least known factor in the sector and the one that makes the biggest difference between two apparently identical windows. The profile brand (VEKA, Kömmerling, etc.) does not manufacture your window. It produces 6-metre profile bars and supplies them to the fabricator, who cuts them, welds them, fits hardware, glazing and seals, and delivers the finished window to you.
The problem: each fabricator has their own technology, their own quality controls and their own suppliers for accessories (hardware, glazing, seals). A VEKA window made by a fabricator with €15M of machinery and AENOR N certification has nothing to do with a VEKA window made by a small workshop in an uncertified industrial unit.
So when you request a quote, don't just ask "what brand is it?". Also ask: who is the fabricator? Are they AENOR-certified? What hardware and glazing does it carry? If the salesperson can't answer or dodges the question, bad sign.
If you want to go deeper, read the full analysis: Difference between manufacturer, fabricator and installer — full article →
3.4 Installation: 40% of insulation is lost if it's done badly
This figure usually surprises: a high-end window badly installed loses more insulation than a mid-range window well installed. It makes sense: thermal losses through air infiltration at the window-wall junction can reach 30-40% of the total when the installation isn't done with self-expanding tape, certified foam and airtightness verification.
A correct installation in 2026 includes, as a minimum:
- Self-expanding tape (not just basic polyurethane foam) sealing the profile-wall junction.
- Sub-frame aligned and levelled with tolerances under 2 mm.
- Continuous outer EPDM weatherseal.
- Thermal imaging verification on completion to detect invisible thermal bridges.
If you're being quoted "polyurethane foam only" to seal the junction, you know you're buying a 20-year-old installation method. To understand what you should require, read the real cost of PVC window installation and our guide on the 7 most common installation mistakes.
With these 4 concepts clear, on to the ranking.
1. VEKA — World leader in PVC profile systems
VEKA is the world's largest manufacturer dedicated exclusively to the design and production of PVC window profiles. Founded in 1969 in Sendenhorst (Germany), it has more than 6,000 employees, 16 extrusion plants across 4 continents and a presence in over 80 countries. It is an independent family business, not part of any larger industrial group.
Why we recommend it
- Manufactures only Class A profiles (outer walls ≥ 3.0 mm). You won't find Class B in their catalogue, not even in their entry range.
- Systems for every need with tiered Uf values: Softline 70 (Uf 1.3 W/m²K), Softline 76 (Uf 1.1 W/m²K) and Softline 82 (Uf 0.95 W/m²K, Passivhaus-certifiable).
- VEKA Spectral: ultra-matt finish with a silky touch, anti-fingerprint and scratch-resistant. 7 exclusive colours that give the window a very high-end look.
- AluConnect: hybrid system, PVC inside and aluminium outside. Combines PVC insulation with premium aluminium aesthetics on the façade.
- Exceptional technical department: on complex projects (large formats, Passivhaus specifications, bespoke solutions), the VEKA technical team responds with proven solutions. It's the brand with the best professional support in the Spanish market.
Key systems
Softline 70 (Uf 1.3) · Softline 76 (Uf 1.1) · Softline 82 (Uf 0.95, Passivhaus) · VEKAMOTION 82 (lift-and-slide) · VISION XXL (large format).
What you should know
- It is a mid-tier brand on price: very good value for money but not the cheapest on the market.
- To get the best from VEKA, the fabricator matters especially. Always ask who is making your window.

2. Kömmerling — 125 years of experience and the widest colour range on the market
Kömmerling is a German brand founded in 1897, with over 125 years of history in window joinery. It belongs to the profine GmbH Group (which also includes KBE and Trocal) and has had its own extrusion plant in Spain, in Camarma de Esteruelas (Madrid), since 1992. Its commercial presence in the Spanish market is among the oldest and most established.
Why we recommend it
- NaturKolor76: 76 colours across 5 ranges. The widest finish palette on the European PVC market.
- PX technology + 15-year colour warranty. The system is tested for 22,000 hours of accelerated UV exposure to guarantee finish stability.
- Full Cover 3-sided: option to foil the profile on all 3 visible sides (front, side and bead), not just the front. Kömmerling's Full Cover 3D system explained in detail.
- Tiered systems by need: 76 AD (Uf 1.1 W/m²K, the best-seller), 76 MD (slim frame, aesthetic), 88 MD (Passivhaus-certifiable for high efficiency).
- Greenline®: the entire profile range is made with a 100% lead-free formulation and 100% recyclable. Pioneer brand in sector sustainability.
Key systems
76 AD (Uf 1.1) · 76 MD (aesthetic) · 88 MD (Passivhaus, Uf 0.9 depending on configuration).
What you should know
- It is a mid-to-high-tier brand on price. The quality justifies it, but it's not for every budget.
- It has lost market share to VEKA in recent years in Spain, although it remains the benchmark in projects where finish and colour are central.
- It belongs to the profine Group: if a quote lists "profine profile" without specifying the brand, demand they tell you whether it's Kömmerling (premium), KBE (mid) or Trocal (entry).

3. Rehau — German engineering with fibreglass instead of steel
Rehau is another major German multinational, founded in 1948 by the Strenger family (still independent, no larger industrial group). It is present in over 170 countries and operates not only in window profiles, but also in automotive, construction and furniture industries. This diversification supports a level of technical R&D well above sector standard.
Why we recommend it
- GENEO system with RAU-FIPRO technology: the only brand of the top 6 that replaces galvanised steel reinforcement with integrated fibreglass in the profile. The result: lighter windows, better insulation (no internal thermal bridge from steel) and glazing up to 56 mm.
- Uf 0.86 W/m²K in the GENEO (82 mm). It is the best value on the market among the 6 brands analysed: Rehau insulates better than anyone else.
- Three tiered systems: GENEO (82 mm, premium), Synego (80 mm, standard high-tier), Brillant Design (70 mm, mid-tier).
- Premium finishes with very pure whites and high technical-quality wood-effect foils.
Key systems
GENEO (82 mm, Uf 0.86) · Synego (80 mm, Uf 0.94) · Brillant Design (70 mm, Uf 1.2).
What you should know
- It has a smaller commercial presence in Spain than VEKA or Kömmerling. In Girona and the Costa Brava it isn't the most common brand, which can make it harder to find certified fabricators.
- The GENEO system sits in the premium bracket: the cost per m² is above market average.
- It is an independent brand (Strenger family, no group), which guarantees stability but can translate into more conservative innovation than brands backed by a group.

4. Cortizo — The Spanish giant now competing with German premium brands
Cortizo (Aluminios Cortizo S.A.U.) is a Spanish company headquartered in Padrón (A Coruña), founded in 1972 and the historic national leader in aluminium extrusion. Over the last decade it has developed a PVC division that has gone from "the national option" to competing technically with German premium brands. It remains a family business, with no larger industrial group.
Why we recommend it
- Aluminium AND PVC manufacturer: the only one of the 6 brands covering both materials with equivalent quality. Allows them to be combined in the same project with coordinated finishes (useful in refurbishments mixing windows and glazed enclosures).
- 100% national manufacturing. In a post-pandemic context with strained international supply chains, this translates into short, predictable lead times.
- Three tiered systems covering everything from entry-level to high-end Passivhaus: COR 70 / A 70 (standard tier), A 78 (Passivhaus option), A 84 Passivhaus HI (Uw 0.66) and A 84 Passivhaus 1.0 (Uw 0.74, optimised for Spain's warm-temperate climate). The HI's Uw 0.66 is among the world's best for efficiency.
- Over 50 years of track record, with an established distribution network across the Iberian Peninsula and close technical support in Spanish.
Key systems
COR 70 / A 70 (entry) · A 78 (optional Passivhaus) · A 84 Passivhaus HI (Uw 0.66) · A 84 Passivhaus 1.0 (Uw 0.74, optimised for Spain).
What you should know
- For standard projects without Passivhaus requirements, the A 70 is solid but not standout against German mid-tier alternatives.
- Where Cortizo really shines is on Passivhaus projects: the A 84 Passivhaus 1.0 is specifically optimised for warm-temperate climate, while many German Passivhaus systems are designed for cold continental climate.
- Independent brand (Cortizo family, no group), which guarantees stability but can translate into fewer funding or rapid-expansion options than group-backed brands.
5. Deceuninck — The Belgian alternative with modern design
Deceuninck is a Belgian multinational headquartered in Hooglede-Gits with a presence in more than 40 countries. Listed on the Brussels stock exchange (Euronext Brussels) and operating the German market under the Inoutic brand, acquired in 2003 from Thyssenkrupp. Strong commitment to sustainability and contemporary design.
Why we recommend it
- Among the slimmest profiles on the market (Elegant Infinity system). This allows up to 15% more glass area than a traditional profile, translating into more natural light and a cleaner aesthetic.
- Recycling and sustainability leader. Lowest carbon footprint in the sector and operates a cradle-to-cradle system (profiles at end-of-life are recycled to produce new profiles).
- Tiered systems: Zendow Neo (76 mm, Uf 1.0 W/m²K, standard tier), Elegant ThermoFibra (with integrated fibre, high-tier), Elegant Infinity (ultra-slim profiles for minimalist aesthetics).
- Foiled finishes of solid technical quality, especially in wood-effect.
Key systems
Zendow Neo (76 mm, Uf 1.0) · Elegant ThermoFibra (high-tier with fibre) · Elegant Infinity (ultra-slim profiles).
What you should know
- In Spain it has positioned itself in the budget-mid segment, which means its actual technology is better than its commercial image suggests.
- Smaller fabricator network than VEKA or Kömmerling: in Girona and the Costa Brava there are fewer options to have Deceuninck windows made to quality standards.
- It belongs to the Deceuninck NV Group (alongside Inoutic, the brand for the German market). The publicly listed corporate structure guarantees stability and financial transparency.

6. Gealan — German STV® and IKD® technology, own brand of the VEKA Group
Gealan is a German brand founded in 1959 with headquarters in Oberkotzau (Bavaria). Part of the VEKA Group since 2014, it nonetheless retains its own brand and full technological independence for a specific reason: Acrylcolor® and IKD® technologies are Gealan-specific patents that the group has chosen to keep separate rather than merge into the VEKA line.
Why we recommend it
- STV® technology (Statisch Trockene Verglasung): allows glazing up to 50 mm bonded to the profile without visible glazing beads. The glass is structurally bonded to the profile, improving overall rigidity and allowing larger formats without deformation.
- IKD® technology (Innovative Kammer-Dämmung): profile chambers filled with a specific insulating material, improving Uf values without increasing profile depth.
- LINEAR® system: the only PVC profile on the market with pure angular lines (no rounded edges). The choice if you want a PVC window that aesthetically competes with premium aluminium in contemporary architectural projects.
- S8000 system certified PassivHaus with Uf values from 0.9 W/m²K.
- Acrylcolor®: surface finish with patented acrylic technology providing greater scratch and impact resistance than conventional foils.
Key systems
S8000 IQ (flagship system, Passivhaus) · S9000 (high-tier with IKD®) · LINEAR® (unique angular design).
What you should know
- Brand with smaller commercial presence in Spain than the previous ones: the certified fabricator network is very limited and can restrict your options depending on the region.
- It is a VEKA Group brand but technically independent: if you compare Gealan with VEKA, they are not equivalent profiles, they are different systems with different technologies.
- Particularly recommended for distinctive architectural projects where LINEAR® delivers a clear aesthetic edge over the rest of the PVC market.
Special mention: Ecoven Plus
Before closing the ranking, a side mention for Ecoven Plus: a Spanish brand that takes VEKA profile systems and lifts them to premium level. What sets it apart is its production line with cutting-edge technology, translating into precision and finish well above market standard. In window manufacturing, the more optimised the process, the better the final results in airtightness, insulation and durability. It also holds AENOR's N Mark and Passivhaus certification on its S82 system. As official distributors in Girona and the Costa Brava, it is our recommendation when the customer is after the very best in a PVC window made in Spain.
→ More information about Ecoven Plus (official distributor Girona and Costa Brava) · → Comparing it with Kömmerling? Read direct comparison: Ecoven Plus vs Kömmerling
Other brands also worth mentioning
The ranking is limited to 6 brands because more would dilute the criteria. But there are three additional brands worth knowing about because they cover specific market niches or because we work with them on particular projects. They aren't in the top 6 for honest reasons — smaller commercial presence in Spain, specialisation in specific projects, or still limited recognition — but anyone looking beyond the mainstream has reason to consider them.
7.1 Schüco — German premium with a limited PVC fabricator network
Schüco is a German multinational founded in 1951, historically regarded as the best aluminium brand in the world. Its PVC line (Schüco Living and FocusIng) is relatively recent but reflects the same German premium manufacturing philosophy as its aluminium division. It remains a family business (Heinrich Schüco family), not part of any larger industrial group.
The most distinctive feature is UnlimitedFinish: more than 300 finish options available, the widest range on the market in any material. On top of that, its presence in distinctive architectural and high-end building projects gives it an internationally recognised premium reputation. The main limitation: the certified PVC fabricator network in Spain is very small, translating into longer lead times and prices well above average. In Girona and the Costa Brava we distribute it selectively on projects where the customer specifically requests it.
→ Schüco PVC — full profile · → Schüco reviews · → Kömmerling vs Schüco: which to choose
7.2 Weru — Niche prestige with Afino-Tech
Weru is a German family brand with over 175 years of history (founded in 1845 in Rudersberg). Its premium system Afino-Tech is modular, adaptable to all configurations and positions itself as one of the most recognised products in the high-end segment of the German market. It is an independent company without a larger industrial group.
The advantage: consistent quality and clearly differentiated premium positioning, especially in projects where the brand acts as a selling point for the property. The limitation: high price that exceeds tighter budgets and limited distribution in Spain. For anyone after a premium-tier option without Schüco's distribution constraints, Weru is a solid alternative.
7.3 Salamander — Lesser-known German HDF technology
Salamander is a German brand founded in 1885, headquartered in Türkheim. Its most distinctive technical feature is HDF technology (High Definition Finish), which seals the PVC pores for a surface that resists scratching and dirt accumulation better. Its bluEvolution 82 and bluEvolution 92 systems achieve Uf values down to 0.93 W/m²K, placing it technically in premium territory.
In Central and Northern Europe it has a solid reputation, especially in Germany and the Nordic countries. In Spain its commercial presence is very limited, making it harder to find certified fabricators with real brand experience. We work with it selectively when the customer specifically requests it or when a particular project (especially in contemporary architecture with demanding aesthetic criteria) justifies it.
The industrial groups behind the brands
Behind the brands that appear on quotes are industrial groups that determine financial strength, long-term product continuity and real innovation capacity. Knowing which group sits behind each brand matters to the end customer more than it seems: a brand backed by a large group weathers supply crises better, honours warranties even if the brand is discontinued and usually has a better technical support network. These are the main groups in the Spanish PVC sector.
8.1 profine GmbH Group
- Brands in the group: Kömmerling, KBE, Trocal.
- Group founded: 2003 (result of consolidating three historically independent brands).
- Headquarters: Pirmasens (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany).
- Ownership: Dr. Peter Mrosik, owner and CEO since 2012.
The profine Group is arguably the most relevant case for Spanish consumers because it groups three brands with very different positioning: Kömmerling operates as premium brand in Spain (76 AD, 88 MD systems), KBE in the mid segment and Trocal in the standard segment. All three share technical infrastructure, R&D and logistics network, but ranges, quality levels and prices differ markedly.
8.2 VEKA AG Group
- Brands in the group: VEKA, Gealan.
- Gealan acquired in: 2014.
- Group headquarters: Sendenhorst (Westphalia, Germany).
- Ownership: family-owned (Laumann family, heirs of Heinrich Laumann, founder in 1969).
The acquisition of Gealan by the VEKA Group in 2014 could have resulted in product line mergers and the disappearance of the Gealan brand. However, the group has deliberately chosen to keep Gealan as an independent brand for a very specific reason: Acrylcolor® (premium surface finish) and IKD® (chambers with integrated insulation) technologies are Gealan-specific patents that would be diluted if integrated into the standard VEKA line. The strategy: two separate brands sharing financing, logistics and commercial network, but with differentiated technical catalogues.
8.3 Deceuninck NV Group
- Brands in the group: Deceuninck, Inoutic.
- Inoutic acquired in: 2003 (from Thyssenkrupp).
- Headquarters: Hooglede-Gits (Belgium).
- Structure: publicly listed company (Euronext Brussels, ticker DECB).
Deceuninck deliberately maintains the Inoutic brand for the German market: local brands carry reputational weight in Germany that a Belgian brand could not easily replicate. Inoutic existed long before the acquisition and retains its own catalogue, German fabricator network and independent positioning, though it operates within the Deceuninck Group at R&D and financing level.
8.4 Independent brands (no larger industrial group)
- Rehau: Strenger family (founded 1948). Private family-owned company with no larger industrial group.
- Schüco: Heinrich Schüco family (founded 1951). Private family-owned company.
- Cortizo: Cortizo family (founded 1972). Private Spanish family-owned company.
- Ecoven Plus: independent Spanish brand, national manufacturing.
- Weru: German family-owned company (founded 1845). Private family-owned.
- Salamander: German family-owned company (founded 1885).
Independence has advantages (fast decisions, long-term product focus) and disadvantages (less R&D investment capacity vs large groups, less resilience to crises). In the PVC sector, independent family brands have traditionally shown exceptional product continuity: Rehau, Schüco and Cortizo have run decades of consistent catalogues with incremental improvements rather than radical changes that obsolete earlier installations.
8.5 Why does this matter to the end customer?
When you buy a PVC window you're buying a product with a service life of 30-50 years. Over that time you'll need spare parts (gaskets, hardware, glazing) and possibly technical support for repairs or extensions. A brand belonging to a large industrial group guarantees:
- Catalogue continuity: systems aren't discontinued from one year to the next.
- Financial stability: warranties are honoured even through ownership changes.
- Support network: certified fabricators with official training and access to original spare parts.
- Shared R&D: innovations developed for one brand in the group typically extend to others (multiplier effect).
This doesn't mean independent brands are a worse option. It means knowing the group lets you calibrate expectations: an independent family brand may be more conservative in innovation but more stable in its product, whereas a brand backed by a large group tends to evolve faster but with some risk of minor-system discontinuation.
💡 Watch out for "profine" in quotes
If a quote lists "profine profile" without specifying a brand, bear in mind that profine is the group, not a consumer-facing brand. The profine group includes the brands Kömmerling (premium in Spain), KBE (mid segment) and Trocal (standard segment). Each has significantly different systems, quality levels and prices.
The quality gap between a Kömmerling 76 AD window and a KBE 70 window can be substantial: available colour range, reinforcement type, seal quality, Uf values and, of course, price. Always require the quote to specify the concrete brand and system (e.g. "Kömmerling 76 AD" or "KBE 88"), never just the group name.
The same principle applies to any quote that just says "German profile" or "European manufacturer" without specifics: ask for brand, system and fabricator. If the salesperson can't answer, it's a sign that the information isn't being controlled or that something is being hidden in the product composition.
Beyond the profile — hardware and glazing
The profile brand takes all the attention, but a window has three equally important components:
Hardware: the brain of the window
The hardware is the metal mechanism that allows the window to open, close, tilt and lock. The three brands we recommend:
- Roto Frank (Roto NX): The most robust. Anti-corrosion. The one we fit most often.
- Siegenia: Excellent for high security (RC2, RC3). Smart micro-ventilation.
- Winkhaus (activPilot): High-quality perimeter hardware. Smooth and motorisable.
Low-tier hardware can leave the window failing to close properly after 3-5 years. Always ask what hardware your window has. Our article on parallel imports explains what happens when accessories are scrimped on.
Glazing: 80% of the surface
The minimum you should specify in 2026:
- Double Low-E glazing with argon fill (4/16Ar/4 Low-E) — the acceptable minimum.
- With solar control — essential on south and west façades in Mediterranean climate.
- Triple glazing — for Passivhaus or extreme-climate zones.
- Laminated acoustic glass — if you have noise problems. Read our acoustic insulation guide.
Reference brands: Guardian Sun, Climalit Plus (Saint-Gobain), Pilkington. We have a complete glazing guide where we explain each type.
Certifications — what seals to require
- CE marking + DoP: Legally required.
- AENOR N Mark: Certifies the complete window. Very few brands hold it.
- Classification S II A (AENOR): Highest rating. S = severe climate, II = maximum resistance, A = walls ≥ 2.8 mm. If it isn't Zone S, it may be a parallel import.
- Passivhaus certification: Guarantee of maximum efficiency. Our Passivhaus comparison.
- RC2: Certified anti-intrusion security.
The OCU confirms it: most problems don't come from the profile brand, but from installation and accessories. Most common installation mistakes.

Uf = frame thermal transmittance. Lower is better insulation.
My advice as an installer — 2026 update
- Don't fixate on the profile brand alone. The main brands make excellent profiles. What really makes the difference is who fabricates the window and who installs it.
- Insist on Class A. If they offer Class B, be suspicious — it may be a parallel import.
- Ask about the fabricator. Which hardware? Which glazing? Differences between manufacturer, fabricator and installer.
- Don't skimp on installation. What a good installation actually costs.
- Request a detailed quote: profile brand, system, glazing, hardware and warranty.
Checklist for comparing quotes

Frequently asked questions about PVC window brands
What is the best PVC window brand in Spain?
There is no universal "best brand". VEKA and Kömmerling are the most established. Rehau stands out for innovation (fibreglass). Cortizo is the best national option. It depends on your project.
What is the difference between Class A and Class B profile?
Class A has walls ≥ 3.0 mm; B has walls ≥ 2.5 mm. That means 15 % less rigidity and worse behaviour under thermal expansion. For Spanish climate, always Class A.
Why does the OCU recommend PVC windows?
The OCU has noted that PVC offers better value than aluminium for residential housing, and that 60 % of complaints aren't about the brand, but about installation.
Is Ecoven Plus worth it?
Yes. It is manufactured on VEKA profiles, with top-tier hardware and glazing, and its Ecoven S82 is the first PVC window certified Passivhaus in Spain for warm-temperate climate.
Is Cortizo PVC a good brand?
A very good brand. 100% national manufacturing, ability to combine aluminium and PVC. Its A 84 Passivhaus HI system reaches Uw 0.66 (world-class). Full review.
Do PVC windows turn yellow?
Modern quality profiles don't. They incorporate TiO₂ and UV stabilisers. If they yellow, it's usually a parallel import. More detail in common PVC problems.
How much does a quality-brand PVC window cost?
Indicative 2026: standard tilt-and-turn window (120×140 cm) between €350 and €600 depending on brand and finishes. Foiling +10-35 %. Up-to-date prices in our calculator.
What matters more, the profile brand or the fabricator?
If I had to choose: the fabricator. The main brands offer comparable products. The difference lies in who makes the window. Manufacturer vs fabricator vs installer.
Buenas tardes.
